When building your startup it is very easy to make legal mistakes. It starts from day one, with not making the deal clear with your co-founder or not choosing the right type of business when incorporating. This topic will only get more complex as your company grows. If you are developing a new technology the discussion around how to protect your intellectual property is crucial.
The McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship and Compass Startup Legal Clinic are bringing together experts from the legal world – Dentons and Podlegal to demystify everything you should know to successfully launch your venture!
Jacqueline Rowniak – Dentons
Jacqueline practices corporate and commercial law in Dentons’ Montreal office. Her practice focuses on banking and financing transactions as well as private mergers and acquisitions.
She also works closely with clients from the Montreal start-up community. Jacqueline brings to her practice several years of experience gained working in-house at a digital music start-up company.
Phil Daniel – PodLegal
Phil joined and cofounded Podlegal in 2015. His practice is focused mainly on advising emerging companies on matters of commercial law, corporate law and financing. He previously practiced business law in Montreal at Brouillette Legal and Spiegel Sohmer inc. after completing his articling at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP.
